{new skirt}

I saw {this post} on Ruffles and Stuff today linking to a great little craft blog, Crafterhours and could not help but whip up a skirt tonight from their tutorial. Or early this morning... the line is a little blurry if you stay up past one. It didn't take long, and I love how it turned out. The only 'adjustment' I made to the pattern was to shorten the front of the skirt a little because Moo has such a large tummy for the waistband, and I wanted it to look even on the bottom. I only took off about 3/8" in the center and tapered it out from there to the edges. I think it will work.

I may make another for Bug and keep them for Christmas gifts - I have already started shopping and hiding things away. Guess I better look through my stash for another polka dot print!

Sweater Dress

My brother and sister-in-law just moved for the third time in a month. Along the way, with every move, they decided to de-junk a little more. That means clothes for me... I love re-purposing clothing! I was inspired by this sweater dress, and here is my version:

I forgot about the 'before' picture, but it was a basic black ribbed sweater. Pretty basic. It was in great shape, just a little too short for me to wear.

I should have measured the sleeves instead of assuming I know how long my kid's arms are... oops. They are pretty long... so I rolled them up and they are now cuffed sleeves. Easy fix! Believe it or not, these are the best two pictures out of the thirty I took. Seriously. Can the lighting in my house be any worse? And she would only stay in one place if she was standing on a table. That's my Moo for you!

{accessories}

I made these to match the girls Halloween costumes, and I just now realized you can't see them in the picture I posted. Moo was obviously a cow without a hood (she hates hats) but Bug looked like... a fuzzy marshmallow. I wasn't sure if she would dig the hood, so I made a lamb clip for her hair 'just in case.' She actually loved her hood, and still asks to wear it. These only took a little while to make, and I had all of the supplies on hand. It would have taken even less time if I had all my supplies from different crafts separated and organized... soon. I hope.

Do you see what I see?

I thought this fabric was adorable, but couldn't figure out a quilt to make with it... so it sat, and sat, and sat in my closet. I hate having awesome fabric and no project (just ask the hubby!). I have loved this pattern so much, I decided to do it again, but in a shirt.

When it was finished, I asked Bug what she saw in this shirt... POLKA DOTS! How funny, I thought for sure it would be the kittens or flowers. Another hit with my big girl!

Both kids currently have the flu, so no modeling pics. We have changed clothes enough times today due to vomit, I opted not to have a photo shoot.

{trick or treat}

I made the girls costumes again this year - Moo was a sweet little cow and Bug was a little lamb. We just did our ward's trunk-or-treat, as we didn't need lots more candy in the house, and I only had a minute to slip away from work. Luckily, the church is right next to the hospital, and we had enough staff so I could walk them around the parking lot.

Polka Dots

Bug is still obsessed with polka dots, and we don't seem to have enough in her closet currently. My solution? This awesome pink fabric my Mom picked up for me. I just did a simple pillowcase dress, but made it into a shirt. I layered it with a long sleeve shirt, and I love the look!

I bribed her with nerds for posing. She was much more cooperative with candy in hand. Cheese!

Ruffle makeover

After yet another great ruffle post on My Mama Made it, I decided to do one myself! I just love how it turned out! I hauled the girls out to the thrift store today to get something cream to use for Bug's cuffs on her halloween costume, and we saw this sweatshirt just begging for a girly addition.
I used the same cream I picked up for Bug's cuffs - love a double duty purchase!

I love how the pleats are uneven - a big step for me. I like everything even. I can't help myself.

Maybe she will be called a boy less now...
