{winter}

I seem to find myself doing most of my knitting during the winter. This green hat is one of my favorites, and Bug loves it too!

Fall knitting

The weather has turned cooler, and I have been knitting. Oh, I love knitting. I used this pattern (version D) and a nice 100% wool Daletta yarn. I braved the yarn store with both girls and let them pick their own colors.

Bug picked a nice light pink, and Moo quickly grabbed the color at eye level and then ran off to pull yarn out of baskets. I chose grey, my go-to neutral. Shown here with already a few baby pounds. I'm 14 weeks along and due in April! After I got done with the hats, Bug told me "I can't wait to get that hat for Christmas!" so... I guess I have one handmade gift already done.

New knitting bags

I can't remember where I saw a bag like this, but I fell in love with the idea immediately. A knitting bag with buttons! Brilliant! I used fusible interfacing on the lining to make it stand a little better. I must do something wrong when using the interfacing because it doesn't seem to want to stick very well. I gave up and stitched a diagonal line every two inches for the lining so it will stay together (so there, interfacing!).
I love having the ball contained in the bag and just pulling the yarn out little by little...It is just big enough for a small project, an instruction sheet and my little pouch of supplies. Great for travel or just keeping little fingers out. I loved mine so much I made one for my Grandma Kitch as well.
I thought about putting a tutorial together... anybody interested?

new hat

I have been working on this hat for a while and finally got it done! Just in time for it to snow tonight, the forecast is 4-6 inches.

I think my mom gave me the pattern, and I wish I would remember that hats knit on size four needles take forever! I love how it turned out though. Worth it in the end.

testing, testing...

I have been picking up knitting the last two weeks, and started AND finished 10 hats in 12 days. Wow. Five of these are for Christmas gifts, I still need to make a little boy hat and then Christmas knitting will be done.
I am still new to knitting, and have not ventured with anything too fancy. However... after my mom brought this book over, I knew I had to try something new. I love all three 'One Skein Wonder' books {hint hint hubby}. Just missing the other two...
Well, after a few tears and a 'yarn over' lesson from my mom, I felt confident and began knitting. Three + hours and 24 rows later, I realized the hat I was making for myself would fit my two year old neice who has a small head. Oops. So, out came all those stitches. I went up a needle size, grabbed a Diet Dr. Pepper and began again. Hope my guage is right this time!
